Jenny Bae Birdis Last Hole, 1 in the LPGA Mexican Tournament

Plaja del Carmen, Mexico – LPGA rookie Jenny Beau took turns up and down birdies on the par 5 18th hole on Friday, giving the birdies a one-shot lead over the weekend at the Mexican Riviera Maya Open.

China’s Miranda Wang had the best round on the El Camarron course at Mayakoba, running off seven birdies and holding a clean card for the 65.

Bee is trying to absorb the scenery and minimize stress. It is about to make it this weekend as she chases her first LPGA victory.

“It’s going to add some stress and pressure, but as long as you keep up the momentum and try to stay positive on every shot and every hole, I think it’s fine,” Bee said.

She was at 6 under 138, which was a tough golf course with wind and heat. Er Camaleon in Mayakoba is where the PGA Tour was played from 2007 to 2024 and the LIV Golf League played last year.

Of the four players tied to an 18-hole lead, he was the only player to reach 8 under in the tournament until he was a bogey finish at the front nine. She was still located for her first victory, one was leading.

“I didn’t have the best finish today, so now it’s a bit sour in my mouth,” Do said. “I played solids for most of the 36 holes, which made me feel better.”

Jenny Singh, another co-leader since Thursday, shot 72, leaving two behind. The other two who opened at age 68, Chiza Toywai and Bianka Pagudanganan, each of whom were late with par 4 seconds, a triple bogey on hole 11.

Meanwhile, the king found the right recipe for Mayakoba. For Duke alumni, the King thought it was best to minimize the care of mistakes in par 5 and short par 4 and keeps. She birded three of her four par 5s.

“There’s a good opportunity there, there’s a short par 4 and a short par 5 seconds. Today, when I did well, I really took a chance,” Wang said. “So I think the only thing that players have a good round here is to just make good swings and pars out there, like the short holes where you have to get close and make birdies and long holes.”

The tournament was the last before the US women opened in Erin Hills, and the Mexican field reflected that. Charlie Hull is the highest ranked player on the Yucatan Peninsula, ranked 15th in the world. She shot 75 and was behind nine shots.

Maria Fassi raised the Mexican flag. The former Arkansas NCAA champion was 72, 147 over three, but at least there’s been on weekends. Gaby Lopez managed only the 73 and missed the cut.
