Storm beats Ace 102-82, winning three times in a row

SEATTLE (AP) — Nneka Ogwumike scored 23 points, while Erica Wheeler added a season-high 21 points and seven assists, and Seattle beat the Las Vegas Ace 102-82 on Sunday for the Storm’s third straight victory.

Gabby Williams and Ezi Magbegor scored 12 points in Seattle (3-1). Skylar Diggins added 10 points and 8 assists.

Storm made 11 of his first 14 shots, including four out of five from the 3-point range, earning 34 first-quarter points, the WNBA’s second-highest scoring quarter this season. Ogwumike scored 11 points in five of the six shots, adding four rebounds and four assists as Seattle took a 14-point lead.

Storm shot 60% (42 of 70) from the field, making 8 out of 16 from the 3-point range and finished with 32 assists.

A’ja Wilson led the ACES (2-2) with 15 points. Jewell Loyd and Jackie Young scored 14 points, while Rookie Elizabeth Kitley joined the game with two points this season, adding 11 points.

College Park, Ga. (AP) — Nia Coffey had 18 points and 11 rebounds, with Allisha Gray also scored 18 and Atlanta Beat Connecticut.

Atlanta led 48-43, leading four minutes into the second half, and controlled it 15-5 runs after the third quarter. Gray received 18 points in three-quarters, five rebounds and three assists.

Connecticut managed just seven points in fourth and finished with 31% shooting.

Maya Caldwell added 12 rebounds and six assists, while Line Howard had 11 points and eight rebounds for Atlanta (3-2). Gray had seven rebounds and three assists.

Marina Mabry led the Sun (0-4) with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Tina Charles and Olivia Nelson Ododa each scored 11.

Atlanta shot 41% and had a 52-34 rebounded advantage.

Atlanta missed nine of the 10 three-pointers in the first quarter, but still led 21-16.

Charles made a back-to-back basket to give Connecticut a 28-27 lead mid-quarter. Atlanta led 34-33 with one minute left in the half before Coffey hit a 37-33 Atlanta lead on the break.

Gray averaged 19.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists, helping to ease Atlanta’s injuries. Offseason buyout Britney Griner missed Sunday’s game with a knee injury on Sunday, while Rookie Te Hina Paopao suffered a facial injury in the team’s victory over the Dallas Wings on Saturday.

Phoenix (AP) – Monique Akoa Makani scored 13 points. This included a Go-Ahead 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter, with Phoenix beating Washington.

Phoenix took the final lead when Akoa Makani filled in a three-pointer to make it 64-62 near the one-minute mark. She added two free throws with 14 seconds remaining, and Alyssa Thomas finished it with a pair of lines 11 seconds later.

Mercury’s Crowing Grand came after Kiki Iliafen’s bucket left Washington with a 58-52 lead, giving him a 58-52 lead with 4:23 left. The mystic didn’t make another shot, so he only converted four free throws.

Washington had 27 turnovers, but Phoenix only changed them to 14 points. Washington had a slight edge in the percentage of field goals.

Satou Sabally had 12 points and nine rebounds for Phoenix (3-1), while Alyssa Thomas added 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Sonia Citron led Washington (2-3) with 14 points. Iriafen had 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Brittney Sykes scored 10 points. Iriafren had seven sales and Citron had six departures. Sykes was 13 from the field and was 1.
