Alex Pau recorded a maiden victory in the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, continuing his stellar run in the 2025 IndyCar season.

Marcus Ericsson of Andretti Global grabbed the lead on 25 laps courtesy of off-sequence strategy, giving him enough fuel to get to the end of the race.

Palou had to resort to fuel savings, which took the pit a few laps ago, but he took the surprise by running Erickson on 14 laps.

Chip Ganassi’s driver was lucky that two back markers were running right in front of him.

Running five laps, he was told by the team that he could save enough fuel and resist the slow challenge from Erickson.

This was Palou’s first victory in the oval shape, putting him on IndyCar’s list of greatest greats of all time.

David Marcus scored his second career podium with IndyCar, and an impressive drive to third place, with Arrow McLaren finishing fourth after a slow first pit stop early in the race.

The top ten was completed by Felix Rosenqvist from Meyer Shank Racing.

During the 200 laps at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, several front runners were eliminated from the competition.

With similar strategies to Erickson, Ryan Hunter Lee stalled out of the pitbox while running in his first position.

Connor Daly was also in a lead fight heading into the final 50 laps, but at the end of the penultimate stint, tire performance was drastically reduced, and Juncos Holinger Racing took him to the pit early.

Sato Sato, who led the majority of the race early on, missed a brake marker in the pit and defeated the field.

Josef Newgarden’s bid for the third consecutive Indy 500 victory ended with fuel pressure issues. He was running in the top 10, finishing 32nd after a penalty and parked his car in the pits to retire.

update: Andretti Duo Ericsson and Kirkwood, plus Prema Ilott were relegated to three final positions after failing post-race technical checks
