The NFL Draft always brings surprises, as no one can definitively predict which players will truly excel once they hit the field. Although analysts, teams, scouts, and the players themselves have their opinions, performance depends on many variables such as team strategies, injuries, and player motivation. Generally, it takes about four years to evaluate a player’s impact, as most rookies complete their initial contracts by then. With the 2025-26 season approaching, it’s an ideal moment to review the standout players from the 2021 NFL Draft.

Fox Sports Research has compiled the top 10 players from that draft, highlighting their achievements. The Eagles made a key move by drafting Dickerson in the second round, who has since earned three Pro Bowl selections and ranked as the NFL’s eighth-best guard last season, significantly contributing to the team’s championship run. Smith, a late sixth-round pick for the Chiefs, defied expectations by earning a franchise tag and securing a $23 million contract, excelling particularly in run blocking.

Lawrence, the Jaguars’ top pick in 2021, has shown promising leadership as a quarterback despite injury setbacks, throwing over 4,000 yards in consecutive seasons and earning a Pro Bowl nod. Humphrey, drafted 63rd by Kansas City, has become a star center with multiple Pro Bowls, an All-Pro selection, and even Super Bowl victories; he was rated the best center by PFF. Slater, selected 13th overall by the Chargers, proved his worth by protecting QB Justin Herbert as the league’s second-best tackle last year.

St. Brown, a fourth-round steal for the Lions, has consistently impressed with several All-Pro nominations, multiple Pro Bowls, and three straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons. Surtain, picked ninth overall, has distinguished himself as a cornerback with rare size and speed, earning All-Pro honors and ranking second-best cornerback by PFF. Sewell, chosen seventh by the Lions, has been one of the best offensive tackles in the league, securing multiple Pro Bowls and high PFF ratings in both pass and run blocking.

Chase, drafted fifth overall by the Bengals, quickly became an integral part of one of the league’s best quarterback-receiver tandems, consistently achieving 1,000-yard receiving seasons and top honors. Finally, the most surprising top player is Mika Parsons, who has won two All-Pro nods, four Pro Bowls, and Defensive Rookie of the Year honors while consistently excelling on defense and ranking high in defensive player of the year voting.

This review underscores how unpredictable and exciting the NFL Draft process can be, showing that late-round picks can become stars and highly touted prospects can face challenges. For NFL fans, these stories highlight the importance of patience and scouting in building successful teams, and the potential for any player to shift the balance of power in the league.
