Baseball is constantly in action, providing more than enough games for any fan to keep up with. To help you catch up, here’s a summary of the best highlights from last night’s Major League Baseball games.

Shohei Ohtani, the 2024 NL MVP, recently grabbed attention with his comeback to pitching, but his batting remains equally impressive. In the ‘ game against the Guardians, Ohtani hit a crucial home run that helped Los Angeles secure a 7-2 victory. This homer not only sparked scoring but also put Ohtani ahead in the MLB home run race with 19, edging out Aaron Judge and Kyle Schwarber who each have 18, and Cal Raleigh with 17. The ‘ offense was strong all around, including a homer by catcher Will Smith, while pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto earned credit for a quality start, allowing two runs over seven innings with an impressive 1.97 ERA this season.

Meanwhile, Zach Neto has been on fire this May, hitting four leadoff homers including one against the Yankees on Monday off Ryan Yarbra. Neto has tallied nine homers this season and boasts a .283/.324/.551 slash line, showing no signs of slowing down after recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. However, Neto’s team fell 5-1 to New York, despite his offensive contributions.

The Padres, who had struggled with recent losses, showed resilience by winning two out of three games against the Braves with a dramatic walk-off victory. Manny Machado tied the game in the eighth inning with a solo homer, and the final walk-off run scored after a wild pitch, causing mixed emotions especially for Marlins fans.

Javier Baez had a controversial moment involving a questionable umpire call by Phil Cuzzi, but despite that, the Detroit Tigers secured a 3-1 win over the Giants without their center fielder. Catcher Patrick Bailey’s defensive skills were highlighted during the game.

Lastly, Bobby Witt Jr. made an exceptional defensive play, making a difficult catch look effortless, further proving his value on the field.

Fan Take: These moments highlight the excitement and unpredictability of baseball, showcasing star power and emerging talents that keep fans engaged. Ohtani’s continued dominance and Neto’s breakout performances are especially thrilling, signaling a competitive and dynamic season ahead that could reshape the future of the sport.
