Jack Ivankovic, the goaltender for the Brampton Steelheads, has officially committed to playing for the University of Michigan, as announced on Saturday. Ivankovic, regarded as one of the top goaltenders in the 2025 NHL Draft class, completed his second full season with the Steelheads, earning a record of 25-12-5, along with a goals-against average (GAA) of 3.05 and a save percentage (SP) of .903 over 43 regular-season games. During the playoffs, Ivankovic participated in five games, recording a 1-3 record, with a 4.87 GAA and .877 SP.

Selected in the first round of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, Ivankovic, who was drafted by the Steelheads when they were located in Mississauga, has played 68 regular-season OHL games to date. In those appearances, he posted a 39-17-9 record, a 2.93 GAA, and a .907 save percentage.

Currently projected as a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, Ivankovic is attracting considerable interest from NHL teams eager to add him to their goaltending prospects. Despite some past criticism regarding his size, the Michigan Wolverines are known for recruiting talented players who can make an immediate impact as freshmen and play significant roles on the team.

Fan Take: Ivankovic’s commitment to Michigan is a big win for college hockey, showcasing the program’s ability to attract top-tier talent. For hockey fans, this move highlights the growing importance of NCAA programs as vital stepping stones for future NHL stars, especially in developing skilled goaltenders.
