Peyton Manning Joins Ownership Group of Denver’s NWSL Franchise

NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning has recently taken on a new role as part of the ownership group for the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion team in Denver, set to launch in 2026. This two-time Super Bowl champion adds significant prestige to the ownership, aligning himself with efforts to elevate women’s soccer, reflecting his commitment to fostering growth in sports.

Manning expressed his excitement, stating, "It’s a true privilege to be involved in a project that resonates with the Colorado community. I’m dedicated to supporting women in sports and eager to help create a club that brings people together in our cities."

The ownership group is led by Rob Cohen and includes notable investors such as John Eric Borgen, Kaia Borgen Moritz, and Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin, indicating a diverse and inclusive approach to building the franchise. Acquired in January 2025 for a record $110 million expansion fee, the team is expected to begin its journey at a temporary venue seating 12,000 fans, with plans for a 14,500-seat stadium by 2028.

Rob Cohen remarked on Manning’s invaluable legacy, saying, "Peyton’s reputation as a champion and leader is unparalleled. His dedication and deep connections to the Colorado community will help shape the future of the Denver NWSL."

Since his retirement from the NFL in 2016, Manning has remained an influential figure in sports and entertainment, having created Omaha Productions, known for the successful "Manning Cast" on ESPN, and actively engaging in youth coaching and league events.

Fan Take: Manning’s involvement signals a growing recognition of women’s football, potentially attracting more fans and investments into the sport. This could lead to a more vibrant and competitive landscape for women’s soccer in the U.S., ultimately benefiting fans and players alike.
