Vince Carter Spoke Up Two Years Ago on Why Kevin Durant is the Ideal Mentor for Anthony Edwards

NBA legend Vince Carter has praised Kevin Durant following his debut with the Phoenix Suns. Rumors suggest that the two-time NBA champion might soon leave the Suns to start a new chapter in his career. If true, this would mark the fifth team Durant has played for. Since Durant still has a year left on his contract, he would need to request a trade to move to another team.

Several teams have been mentioned as possible destinations for Durant, including the Toronto Raptors. According to Vince Carter, whichever team Durant joins is likely to see a significant impact. When Durant was traded to the Suns, many questioned how well he would fit with Devin Booker and the existing roster, but Durant quickly silenced doubters with a strong debut, scoring 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting.

Carter praised Durant on an ESPN segment, calling him a “selfish superstar” in a positive sense, noting Durant’s ability to adapt and play alongside other superstars, a skill he developed during his time with the Golden State Warriors. Despite this, Durant now seems poised to leave the Suns, possibly frustrated by the team’s inability to build a strong supporting cast around him.

One major hurdle for the Suns has been their depth, particularly due to Bradley Beal’s non-trade clause. Another potential next stop for Durant might be the Minnesota Timberwolves, a team recently making consecutive conference finals appearances. While Anthony Edwards has grown as a leader, the Timberwolves lack a veteran who can take over games when needed, making Durant a perfect fit.

With the Timberwolves possessing valuable assets to facilitate a trade and a solid roster, Durant could provide the final piece they need to contend seriously. At 36, Durant’s experience and individual talent might be exactly what Minnesota requires to reach the next level.

Fan Take: Kevin Durant’s potential move could reshape the balance of power in the NBA and provide fresh excitement for fans eager to see how his leadership and skill can elevate a new team. This kind of star movement keeps the league dynamic and showcases the ongoing evolution of player careers and team strategies.
