Arsenal has not prioritized the right winger this summer, but according to Charles Watts, they look open to snapping free agent Leroy Thane.

His latest exclusive writing Catch off side In the column, Watts explained that gunners will never spend £60 million on someone like Brian Mbeumo this summer.

Arsenal has probably had too many other signatures needed to be made in this transfer window, so Mbeumo probably wasn’t making good use of his funds.

However, the free SANE makes more sense as German International can add depth without eating too much to your transfer budget.

Thane has been linked to Arsenal by Christian Folk in a recent report Catch off sideand Watts confirmed the story.

Discussing Arsenal, where he missed Mbeumo as he headed to Manchester United instead, Watts explained the thoughts of the North London Giants.

“There has been a lot of response from Arsenal fans to the news that Brian Mbeumo appears to be joining Manchester United at some point this summer.

“Arsenal reported interest in Mbeumo, but things didn’t go any further. I’m honestly not surprised.

“Don’t get me wrong. I wanted to see Mbeumo at Arsenal, and I’m sure it improved Mikel Arteta’s offensive options.

“But let’s face it, he is primarily the right winger and strengthening in that position is not a real priority for this window.

Arsenal already has Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nuwaneri

“They already have Bukayosaka. They are going to play often, and then they have Ethan Nuwaneri, who will have to keep finding meaningful minutes to follow his groundbreaking campaign in 2024/25.

“It was just as nice as seeing people like Mbeumo coming in, so when Arsenal had to invest heavily in other parts of the attack, it wasn’t very realistic in the window.

“I think there will be a discussion about submitting another right-hand option, but the priorities are to renew things on the other side and add a much-anticipated new striker.

“These two additions cost a lot of money, and adding the £51 million fee set aside for Martin Zubimendi already adds significant spending from Arsenal during the transfer period.

“So, spending £60 million on the right winger seems unrealistic.

“Maybe that’s why there was exploratory consultation with Leroy Sane agents as German wingers are set up to be available for free transfers if they don’t agree to an extension with Bayern Munich.”
