Brad Marchand took charge for the Florida Panthers, leading them to a thrilling 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers in double overtime during Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. Marchand scored twice, helping the series even out as it headed back to South Florida. The game saw an explosive start with five goals scored early on, reminiscent of a high-scoring first period from a previous Penguins vs. Sharks Stanley Cup Final. Marchand and teammate Anton Landell’s chemistry shone as Landell assisted both of Marchand’s goals, including the game-winner at 8:04 in the second overtime.

Earlier in the first overtime, Marchand nearly clinched the win by attempting to score past goalie Skinner after receiving a pass from Carter Verhoge, but the puck hit the post, pushing the game into a second overtime. Despite a rocky beginning where Sergei Bobrovsky conceded three goals, he recovered impressively to make 41 saves on 45 shots, allowing just one goal after the opening period through the rest of the game.

CBS Sports continues to provide full coverage of the Stanley Cup Final, with upcoming games scheduled on TNT and truTV. The ongoing series promises intense competition as the Panthers and Oilers vie for the championship.

Fan Take: This intense game highlights the excitement and unpredictability of the Stanley Cup Final, a treat for hockey enthusiasts. Marchand’s performance not only showcases his star power but also signals that this series could be a memorable classic, inspiring a new generation of fans.
