The world of sports responds to Coco Gouf’s French Open title

Coco Gouf is once again the champion.

Gauff, 21, won her first French open title by beating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4 in the final on Saturday.

This victory marks Goff’s second major championship. She previously won the 2023 US Open and defeated Sabalenka in the final. According to ESPN research, Goff joined Serena Williams (6), Chris Ebert (6), Venus Williams (4), and Tracy Austin (2) as the fifth American woman in her open era (since 1968) (i.e. since 1968).

Gough is also the first American woman to win the French Open since Serena Williams in 2015.

When Goff left the court, she was blessed by legendary film director Spike Lee.

“Get a sista!” Lee told Gouf from the stands.

Lee wasn’t the only star to respond to Gouf’s victory. Here are more athletes who joined social media to celebrate her second major trophy to Americans.
