Arsenal wants to sign a new left winger this summer, but after recent developments, the possibility of signing one of its hoped targets could collapse.
Mikel Arteta hopes strikers and left wingers will activate the offense before the 2025-26 season, with the former having a lot of focus, but there is a desire to sign someone to compete with underrated Gabriel Martinelli and Leardro Trossard over the past 12 months.
Real Madrid’s Rodrigo appears as the target, while Nico Williams is another Legal Leaguer player on the club’s radar. However, the latter possibility of participation has been negatively affected in the last 24 hours.
Barcelona gains advantage in their efforts to sign Nico Williams
As Ben Jacobs reported, Barcelona was in consultation with Williams’ agents, and upon the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on the wage package. Spain International is ready to accept less money for what it had previously requested from the LA Liga Champions.
Barcelona has been offering Williams a wage of 12 million euros per season this summer, and considering he is a Spanish international based in Spain, the move to Catalonia in particular is very appealing.
Arsenal had already lost the ground to Bayern Munich to sign Williams. These developments regarding Barcelona could make things even more difficult for North Londoners.
It is still unknown that Williams will end at the beginning of September when the summer transfer window closes. The athletic club is working to keep him up, but it can be difficult when Barcelona, Arsenal and Bayern all turn.
