Mitchell – The 8th Muth Electric Beterans Fundraiser Two-person scramble golf tournament took place on Sunday at Lakeview Golf Course.

There were three flights in the day’s event, with John and Griffin Lile winning the championship flight with a final score of 56, finishing two strokes from Jeff Mante and Brad Bush’s second-placed team (58). Bryce and Jack Gillen finished third with a score of 63.

The first flight was won by Spencer and Rallyball teams, shooting a final score of 67 along with Alan and Jordan Miller, but won with a tiebreaker. Blake and Melissa Waddell finished third with 68.

CJ and Kelsey Carlson earned their second flight honors with a 74, finishing a one-stroke ahead of Joel Reinsh and Brandon Manchester’s second-placed team.

The fundraiser, which raised $14,000 last year, raised $16,000 this year. 40% of the revenue came after Cemetery 18 for a cement replacement, replacing the storm-damaged flag poles and went to pay for the outdoor sound system. An additional 40% of the proceeds went to the Disabled American Veterans Van Exchange Fund, replacing vans used to bring veterans from the four counties’ area to hospital appointments. Also, 20% of the proceeds will be sent to Honorary Airmail in the Midwest, with older veterans being taken to Washington, D.C. to tour federal veterans’ monuments.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under the signature of “The Republic of Mitchell.” In many cases, the “Republic of Mitchell” signature is used to rewrite basic news briefs derived from official sources, such as city press releases on road closures, with little or no reporting required. Sometimes this byline is used when a news story contains a large number of authors, or when a story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If you are using external sources, you will be noticed within the story.
