Florian Wirtz’s medical care is scheduled for Friday, and Liverpool supporters certainly believe they will get their man.
Despite all the noise regarding the obscene transfer fees, Bayer Leverkusen’s Wirtz signed with a first £100 million fee, with an additional £16 million achievable through add-ons.
Without a doubt, Arne Slot can’t wait to bring the German playmaker to his team. Add truly world-class quality to ensure that Premier League champions have a great chance to defend their belt.
Of course, Liverpool needs a new centre forward to dance to creative tunes. Darwin Nunes’ time at Merseyside is coming to an end, reporting interest from the rise in Serie A.
Although multiple names have been stolen, Hugo Ekitike’s has the most weight in the past few weeks.
Latest news from Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool
Liverpool needs a striker, and Eintrohad Frankfurt’s Ekitike is not only a high-class budding weatherman, but also a dynamic, round player with strength in his elegance and talent.
The 22-year-old completed his first full season in Germany last year, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in 48 matches in all competitions.
But with his clever touches, selfless link-up plays, and intelligent ball-off ball movements at the front and center of Ekitique’s skill set, there is little question that he has “very full offensive range” as French reporters point out.
Analyst Ben Matinson also calls Ekitique “one of the best strikers out there,” but he isn’t The best. That particular player will rarely be out of reach of anyone who may want him this summer, but Liverpool has not given up on hope.
Liverpool is still looking for an alternative to Ekitique
According to Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool is still a huge admirer of Newcastle United’s Alexander Isaac, paying attention to his situation.
Athletics David Ornstein claimed that the summer of 25 will not move this summer after competing in the Champions League, but Liverpool’s chief is still young as he is trying to raise funds through sales of existing players.
On their part, Newcastle is determinedly unwilling to sell. Isak is a cream from Eddie Howe’s crop, valued at over £150 million.
Why Alexander Isaac is perfect
Isak is one of the best players in the Premier League, and analyst Raj Chohan has declared him “the best striker in the world” after his extraordinary 2024/25 campaign.
Newcastle signed the Real Sociedad marksman three years ago, a club record £603 million move three years ago, but Isak has rocked the issues of injuries from past seasons and enjoys his best years.
In the Premier League, his 23-goal return was only made by that man Mohamed Sarah, and Isaac missed 18 big opportunities and created 11 golden chances for his teammates according to Sofascole.
Isak’s goalscoring is the second, but that’s not why Liverpool has a vested interest. Instead, it is the fundamental quality of the player, and is rounded and technically impressive.
His physicality and robustness (when swinging the front line of injury) established Rangy Forward to be one of the best in the world, in his goal with Liverpool at Wembley, highlighting his worth to win the Carabao Cup in March.
Perhaps it was a game that convinced FSG of the star’s skill, as rumors about his potential cross-country summer switch have been ongoing ever since.
You won’t be surprised. Liverpool clearly wants a certain type of centre forward, and FBREF’s data-driven model makes it clear that Ekitike is one of Isak’s most statistically comparable players.
Let’s see how they match.

What’s interesting is that Ekitike is a little more active in carrying and recovering the ball, but he also unleashes the goal strike with greater regularity, with XG (expected goal) reaching 0.76 per 90.
The Expected Goal (XG) is a metric designed to measure the probability of a shot to achieve the goal.
Conversely, Isaac’s XG tally was only 0.66 per 90. This basically means he scored frequently because of the possibility that he was at the centre.
Ultimately, you won’t see both players under the wings of the slot, but one of them is enough. However, given Ekitique’s stylistic similarities with Isaac, it can be argued that he is merely an imitation of the Swedish, and that although he is pastoring his style of theatrical style, it is not the same effect.
The 6-foot-3 star has extensive experience as a top striker in the Premier League, so it’s understandable that Liverpool will have to pay the premium.
Is the £150m mark too much for the Reds? Perhaps so, but such numbers are potentially over-inflated. Wirtz has announced finances touted for 150 million euros (£127 million) towards Liverpool, which will be involved in spending deals like Chelsea and Arsenal in single-player transfers at this stage.
Forking what is likely to reach the 100 million pound ballpark again in the same transfer window would be a big question for FSG, but the American owners have established an independent model that has led to illustrious success.
