According to Soccer Insider, Aston Villa is accelerating the pursuit of Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount.
Once considered one of English football’s brightest creative talents, the 26-year-old midfielder defeated the pecking order at Old Trafford after a set-off of injury and a dip in form.
He showed some promises towards the end of the Europa League season, but consistency remained his biggest problem since his move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are not certain that the Midfields will leave the club this summer, but it is likely that they will explore the market to see if there are suitors available to the UK midfielders.
Aston Villa Wants Man United Star Mason Mount
Meanwhile, Villa hopes to be able to help the midfielder get back the former he showed at Chelsea.
Former Chief Scout Mic Brown, who has insider information on forwarding related matters, provided the latest updates on the future of the UK midfielder and discussed the possibility that he might join Aston Villa.
“United tried to establish whether there was a market for Mason Mount.” He told the soccer insider.
“Aston Villa is being spoken and I think they can make the move.
“People remember Mason mounting at his best, and the fact that the villa wants to help him come back is that he looks like he’s back to full fitness now.
“His move towards Man United has never been positive, but he is still a talented player.
“The Villa has lost Rashford and Asensio so we want to bolster it, so Mount is on the list.
“Unai Emery is a fan of him and feels he can help him rediscover the Chelsea form.”
Villa Move could help with mounts next season
The move to Aston Villa was able to revive Mount’s career in the same way Emery turned Emery around the shape of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, who joined the club earlier this year with a loan move.
As United are actively looking for new signatures this summer, Mount may find himself going further down the pecking order.
There is no doubt about his quality, but consistency remains his biggest problem.
Speaking about MUTV, former Man United player Ben Thornley said:
“He’s a very intelligent footballer. He’s been able to fit this system… I want him to catch his eye even more.”
Meanwhile, United are interested in the moves of villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
