The eighth final signing event of the PGA Tour season follows the final round with still 70 PGA Tour best players on the field at the TPC River Highlands after two golfers retreated in the early stages of play at the 2025 Travelers Championship in Connecticut. This shows the final chances of this season for players to acquire $3.6 million winner checkAs a result, it will be one of the few remaining opportunities to score big points for those who position themselves above the US Ryder Cup rankings.
With 1 point awarded for every $1,000 earned, Signature Events and Majors are the best chance for players to lock an auto-qualifying spot into the top six of the rankings. JJ Spaun won last week with a victory at US Open. His first career major victory came third in the Ryder Cup standings, effectively securing an automatic qualifying position.
With the exception of Scotty Schaeffler, who won the qualifying spot a few weeks ago, US hopefuls see travelers as a great opportunity to solidify their position and avoid the need to wait for Keegan Bradley’s pick as captain. This exists as this weekend’s key subplot, especially as the US team has a lot of uncertainty about what this year’s 12 players will make up for this year’s team.
After starting the third round with a three-way tie above the leaderboard, Tommy Fleetwood is the only guy on the totem pole to enter the final round on Sunday. Having 41 career top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour, Fleetwood has never appeared and has never entered the winner’s circle. That could all change on Sunday given his three-shot advantage with Keegan Bradley and Russell Henry.
