Greece’s Maria Saccari and Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva were flooded with bad Homburg on Sunday when they were involved in a centre court conflict after the first round match.
Sacchira appeared in a 7-5, 7-6 (6) victory in the Wimbledon tuning-up event in Germany, but it seemed unsatisfied with Putintseva’s handshake on the net.
“When I shake hands with someone, I look in my eyes,” Sakkari said in a comment featured by Court Mike.
Putintseva responded with exaggerated belly reasons, and Sakkari told Putintseva “Just be like a human.”
The duo continued to trade barbs as Patintseva set out for the locker room.
Sakkari told an interviewer on the court that there was no love lost between the pair.
“I don’t think she’s going to invite me to dinner for the rest of our lives, but I don’t care,” Sakkari said. “I have very good friends and I’ll go out for dinner with them. Let me leave you here and say I respect her as a player.
Sacchiri will then meet either Ekaterina Alexandrova or Belinda Bensik in the second round.
Wimbledon will begin on June 30th.
