According to Athletic’s James McNicolas, Arsenal is reportedly locked up in the final details of Kepa Arizabaraga’s signature.

The gunner appears to be signing the Spanish goalkeeper at Chelsea for just £5 million. Players are hoping to move the finishing touches this week at London Colny.

Kepa looks like a great signature for Arsenal. Mikel Arteta can do with the backup keeper behind David Raya, and his role is now vacant as Neto’s loan spell is over.

Even if Kepa doesn’t play regularly, he is an experienced player who should have a good presence around the club after joining the Champions League-winning campaign in both Chelsea and Real Madrid.

I’ll talk Catch off side Recently, Arsenal journalist Charles Watts praised Kepa for signing as a great business.

“I think the Kepa trade will be great once it’s over.

“It’s an absolute steal to land a keeper like Kepa for just £5 million, and to be honest, I’m baffled that it appears that some people are questioning it.

“I can only think of some issues as being another signature from Chelsea. Given what’s happened in the past, in a sense, I just put it on one side and make this deal about what it is and there’s nothing to complain about.

“You’re talking about a keeper with a wealth of experience and approaching his best years as Senior International. He had a very good season with Bournemouth last season before helping Real Madrid win the Champions League while he was there.”

He added: “And remember that he comes in as No. 2. Raya offers to stay healthy and Kepa only plays a handful of games.

“It’s a really good deal at an exceptional price, and the fact that it appears to close early in the summer is really positive.”
