Arsenal expert Charles Watts discussed Rodrigo’s move through the saga and gave him insight into how it pans out.
The Real Madrid winger, who contributed a total of 16 goals and eight assists to the club and country in 2024/25, looks like he’s watching this summer.
As Catch off side Arsenal, like other top clubs, reports that he is interested in signing Rodrigo, but he is not yet guaranteed to leave the Bernabéu.
His latest writing Catch off side Column, Watts suggested that this could be something that would drag you a little. Arsenal is not necessarily in a hurry to make Rodrigo the top target.
Charles Watts on Rodrigo’s potential Arsenal strategy
Watts explained that Arsenal dealt with such Real Madrid when he signed Martin Odegaard from the Spanish giants.
“It looks like Nico Williams is heading for Barcelona. This is one of the top targets from the table for Arsenal’s left winger, but there are other options and the situation for Real Madrid’s Rodrigo is certainly worth noting,” Watts said.
“It looks like a situation that could run deep into the window, but with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Torosard on the team, there’s no need to rush when it comes to Arsenal signing the winger.
“They have time to weigh their options and see what happens at Rodrigo, just like they did when they finally signed Real Madrid’s Martin Odegard.
“They were interested in things like James Madison and Emi Buendia that summer, when Madrid decided that Odegard could leave Arsenal and fly away to chance to get a deal.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried something similar to Rodrigo.”
