They didn’t have it all in their own way as Dortmund rejected three bids from the 20-year-old Chelsea before their final transfer deadline on June 10th.
Chelsea also failed in an attempt to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, with Rossoneri claiming a price tag far higher than Maresca’s side would be willing to pay, and talks about Aintrack’s Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitique’s pre-CWC move.
Maresca’s side is also in the centre-back market, but according to Romano, they have to move on from Everton’s defender Jarrad Bluntwaite.
Jarrad Branthwaite rejects Chelsea and signs a new Everton deal
Earlier this month, journalist Simon Phillips reported that Chelsea plans to promote Brantewight, and it was possible that the 23-year-old could ask for a move to Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea are going to push him (Bluntweight) again and it could be that they’ll give Everton a player to beat the fees and make them more attractive on both sides,” Phillips said.
“I’ve heard he’s a bit frustrated with Everton having such a big rating on his head. At first I heard that Brantewaite wouldn’t be actively pushing forward with the move.
However, despite Chelsea’s intentions, the £70 million rated centre-back was kicked out of Maresca’s reach.
Romano confirms that Brantewaite has violated his future for Everton by signing a new long-term contract until 2030, and has hit Chelsea and other suitors poised to miss the British for a very bright future.
According to some reports, the former PSV Eindhoven lender was also wanted by Tottenham, but the potential move to London has to be placed on the backburner for a long time.
