According to the report, Arsenal is expected to submit a bid for Real Madrid’s target, and Mikel Arteta is personally eager to secure his signature.
Transfer gunner with Real Madrid
They are ultimately short on Paris Saint-Germain, but the gunners proved themselves a strength to consider by sending Real Madrid 5-1 in the Champions League quarterfinals last season.
So Emirates Stadium should be an attractive destination for some top players this summer. It was believed that Martins Vimendi of Real Socidad had chosen to stay in Spain and move to North London before signing on the side of Xabi Alonso.
Arteta appears to be very eager to strengthen the middle of this summer, with Thomas Party heading towards the exit door and aiming for Brentford’s Christian Norgaard, who agreed to cross the capital.
However, Arsenal is also fighting Madrid for the centre-back signature, namely, Valencia’s Christian Mosquera.
The Gunners boss has identified Mosquera as his main target as a backup of Gabriel and William Saliba, and the people of North London are expected to make an improved offer for his services, already seeing a £16 million bid being knocked back by the Spanish side.

Zubimendi 2.0: Arsenal is ready to offer £35 million to “barbar” talent
Martín Zubimendi is now arriving, but when Jorginho and Thomas Partey depart, can Arsenal make an offer of £35 million to sign another Spanish midfield star?
Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, so if the Premier League is willing to increase bids slightly, the transaction could be relatively easy.
The “dominant” Mosquera in La Liga
Football scout Ben Matinson was very impressed with the performance of 21-year-old Valencia.
Despite still in the early stages of his career, the Spaniard has already solidified himself as a key player for Valencia, making 37 appearances in LaLiga last season.
That said, it would be extremely difficult to drive away Gabriel and Saliba in the first XI, but Jakub Kiwior was also impressed by the second half of the 2024-25 campaign, playing “exceptionally well” against Real Madrid.
So bringing in a new centre-back is not a priority for Arsenal, but signing Mosquera will provide him with more strength to compete in all aspects of next season.
