Leicester is considering building a team that can instantly return to the Premier League in 2026-27, and defense is one of the regions addressed during the summer transfer period.

It was a disastrous season from 2024 to 25 for Leicester. Leicester struggled in all areas, but was especially defensive. Club officials will be keen to improve their return to the championship. There, it will become one of your favorites to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Market opportunities are considered by foxes, and Michael Keene certainly falls into this category.

As reported by Football Insider (via Leicester’s Fox), Leicester is interested in signing Keene, whose Everton’s contract expires on Monday. He will not be offered a new deal. This means he will become a free agent after Tuesday.

Leicester is one of the clubs eager to sign Keene, and they will be an experienced addition to their team. Leeds is also linked to the 32-year-old, who has made 253 Premier League appearances in his career.

If there is a Premier League club for Keene, Leicester will certainly find it difficult to secure his signature. But they could offer regular football.

It’s no surprise to see the decision being imminent given Keene is able to make a big decision at the next club and the preseason is coming soon for anyone interested in signing him. Leicester hasn’t offered a contract yet, but it’s no surprise to see an approach made for the 12-star defender in the UK.
