Newcastle has yet to sign this summer, but it is growing confidence that it will be able to do one or two deals in the coming weeks. James Trafford was closed on the move, allowing Anthony Elanga to chase him down to St. James Park.
Newcastle ended his interest in Brian Mbemo, who has turned his mind towards Man United, so Newcastle changed his interest in Elanga. They filed an opening offer last week in the £45 million area, but were quickly denied by Nottingham Forest, who doesn’t want to sell the 23-year-old.
But that rejection has not stopped Newcastle. A recent new talk will be given and another offer will be submitted soon.
Newcastle is ready to file Anthony Elanga’s second offer
As Football Insider reported, Newcastle is preparing itself to improve Elanga’s offers, which Eddie Howe is eager to add to his team after the 2025-26 season.
Forest says it doesn’t want to sell Elanga, but it is believed it will be able to accept bids in the £60 million region. Newcastle will approach this amount with the next offer, but it is likely to be in an area of between £50-55 million.
Elanga is an excellent addition to Howe’s Squad, and has improved significantly since joining Forest two years ago. He is considered to be very interested in the move, especially as he plans to play in the Champions League next season.
The possibility of Elanga’s arrival also helps Newcastle retain Alexander Isaac’s services. The pair, international teammates, are said to be very close, so this could be another incentive for magpies to get a deal with the forest.
