Neymar, the Brazilian forward, has expressed his intention to keep playing football for as long as he is able to enjoy the game.

At 33 years old, he has recently extended his contract with Santos until the end of this year, with the possibility of continuing through the 2026 World Cup.

During an interview with family and friends, his wife, Bruna Biancardi, asked about his motivation to stay in professional football. Neymar replied, “What fuels me is the passion I still have for the game.”

“Playing and being on the field motivates me every day. I wake up and train with love for football that never fades away.”

Neymar returned to his childhood club, Santos, earlier this year after finishing his time with Al-Hilal.

His time in the Saudi league was hampered by an ACL injury sustained while playing for Brazil in October 2023, which kept him sidelined.

Frequent muscular injuries have limited him to three goals and three assists in 15 matches for Santos this year, affecting his chances of returning to the national team.

Despite the scrutiny over his lifestyle, Neymar has addressed the criticism openly.

“I can’t control what others think,” he told Bruna. “It’s challenging to respond to those who don’t understand our lives. The criticism is straightforward, but the context is often lost. It’s somewhat overshadowed my career.”

“I believe I’m a good person, and it’s tough to deal with these judgments… I want the focus to be on what truly matters: the game.”

“In today’s world, it’s challenging for people to concentrate solely on athletes due to the influence of the internet and social media.”

“It’s disheartening to be judged this way. At times, I even feel animosity towards those who don’t truly know me or recognize the effort I put in for my family and myself, which isn’t a part of their daily lives.”

“I can acknowledge it, but it doesn’t harm me mentally.”

“My soccer journey is nearing its end, and while my legacy is secured, time moves on, and new talents will emerge. Those who truly know me are what matter most.”

Editorial Opinion: This news is particularly significant for soccer fans, as Neymar’s ongoing passion for the game showcases the enduring spirit of athletes, despite facing adversity and criticism. His commitment could inspire younger players and emphasize the importance of dedication in sports, shaping the future landscape of soccer.
