Sauber can be used to attract more engineering talent as he opens a new technology centre in the UK and moves to the Audi Works team.

Audi will join as a full constructor in 2026, while Sauber Motorsport will operate from Hinwill, Switzerland, and the German Power Unit division. With the new technology centre based in Bicester, just 15 miles from Silverstone, the team has facilities where talent can function if they don’t want to move from the UK.

“The opening of the Sauber Motorsports Technology Centre in Bistermotion is an important milestone as Audi prepares to arrive in Formula 1,” said the director of Mattia Binott, the Audi F1 project.

“The facility will enable us to leverage the talent pools of Motorsport Valley and further strengthen our technical capabilities while being part of a thriving cluster in Bistermotion, living and breathing in motorsports.

The move from Sauber is similar to the approach Cadillac took with his new Formula One team. Silverstone Facilities Operation of independent power units alongside major US headquarters.

Sauber said the new centre represents a major investment, but it also brings the team closer to the region’s existing motorsport supply chain.

“Ahead of next year’s Formula One season, we warmly welcome Sauber Motorsport, an exciting step in the transformation of Audi Formula One,” said Bicester Motion CEO Daniel Siegegan. “It is thrilling that Bicester’s move was chosen as the UK bases will lead to Switzerland and German operations to support motorsports sustainability, innovation and its vision to deliver maximum performance.
