Lewis Hamilton expressed optimism about Ferrari’s performance at the British Grand Prix, even though the team hadn’t introduced any new upgrades for Silverstone. During the second practice session, both Ferrari cars secured spots in the top three, with Charles Leclerc just over 0.2 seconds behind Lando Norris’s fastest lap, while Hamilton was slightly further off the pace.

Hamilton quickly adapted to driving the SF-25, the car Ferrari brought this season. The 40-year-old driver holds an impressive record at Silverstone, having won there nine times throughout his career. Despite a challenging final year with Mercedes, Hamilton managed to outperform Max Verstappen, marking an emotional return to victory. Although Hamilton is currently trailing his Ferrari teammate Leclerc in performance, he feels he is steadily improving.

“It was a really good day. The atmosphere from the crowd was fantastic, and it’s great to be driving a Ferrari here at Silverstone,” Hamilton said. “Considering that Red Bull and McLaren are making upgrades while we’re holding our ground, it’s very positive. I’ve made significant progress with the car and feel more comfortable with its handling. While I don’t think we were where we wanted in the second practice, we know the adjustments needed for the next session.”

When it comes to big results at Silverstone, Hamilton is the driver to watch, with nine wins and 14 podium finishes at the British Grand Prix. His most memorable triumph came in 2008, a race he won by over a minute under challenging conditions. Hamilton shared that he is hopeful for a standout weekend as Ferrari seeks their first Grand Prix win of the season. “I definitely feel like I can aim for a strong weekend,” he added. “The key is to put everything together and extract the maximum performance—we’ll do our best to achieve the best result possible. The weather could play a role, as rain is expected tomorrow and on race day, so we need to be prepared.”

Fan Take: Hamilton’s positive outlook and Ferrari’s competitiveness at Silverstone signal exciting battles ahead, which is great news for racing fans craving intense on-track action. If Ferrari continues to close the gap, it could ignite a thrilling title fight, revitalizing the spirit and unpredictability of Formula 1.
