Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Markle Test has secured an exciting new role. The Colorado Eagles, an American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, have announced the hiring of Retest as their new head coach.

Prior to this appointment, Retest spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach with the Cleveland Monsters, the AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets. With that experience behind him, he now steps into the lead coaching position for the Eagles.

Retest began his NHL career with the Penguins. Between 2010 and 2012, over 85 games in three seasons, he tallied 15 goals, 14 assists, and 29 points. His Penguins tenure ended when he was traded to the Blue Jackets during the 2011-12 season.

Following his time with Pittsburgh, Retest also played for the Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers, and Winnipeg Jets. Over 567 NHL games, he accumulated 93 goals, 117 assists, and a total of 210 points. Now, he embarks on a new challenge as the head coach of the Colorado Eagles.

Fan Take: This coaching move is significant for hockey fans as it signals a promising transition from player to coach, bringing fresh energy and experience to the Eagles’ bench. Retest’s extensive playing and coaching background could help elevate the team’s performance and contribute to the development of future NHL talent.
