Nottingham Forest may have to quickly ponder life without Starwinger Anthony Elanga. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side is turning to Premier League stars in search of quality alternatives.

Diaz still managed to leave the club this summer.

Nothing has been signed or confirmed yet, but Elanga is gradually moving towards Newcastle United. It will hit Nuno to prepare the club for its first campaign in Europe for decades.

The versatile Swedish International was one of Forest’s most influential attackers last season, continuing all the way to the final day in the Champions League qualifying pursuit, with Nuno’s side having to settle in the conference league location through Elangas’ negligence.

The 23-year-old scored 12 assists and six goals in all competitions at Nuno last season, so Newcastle is now trying to agree to Elanga’s £55 million contract.

If Elanga departs the city ground, the forest was watching PSV Eindhoven Sensation Johan Bakayoko in January.

Liverpool forward Harvey Elliott has been considered as well, following his sublime performance with England at the under-21 European Championships, according to Nottingham Forest News.

Elliott began scoring England with a 3-2 victory over Germany later last month, supporting Lee Carsley’s team with four other goals on the way to the final, and the 22-year-old’s exceptional display put him on numerous top flight side radars that could seduce him from Anfield.

Liverpool is reportedly demanding about £50 million to sell former Fulham Academy alumni, but this has not blocked the forest.

Forests identify Harvey Elliot as a potential Elanga alternative

According to Forest News, Elliot, alongside Bakayoko, is on the first list of Nuno’s potential alternatives for Elanga.

The attacking midfielder struggled in the Premier League minutes on the side that won the illustrious title last year, but contributed when he was called. Elliott had gone out for most of the early stages of the season with his broken leg, but began to find himself towards the latter stage of 2024/2025.

Elliott is a player capable of performing at a very high level as he scored against both the reel and the PSV in the league phase and then won the winner in a 1-0 victory at PSG in the 16th round of the Champions Lee Ground.

The club may seduce him by promising more consistent game time. And given the potentially pressing exit of Elanga, we certainly can’t discount the forest.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he was about to leave Liverpool this summer,” former scout Mick Brown recently told Soccer Insider.

“Many clubs in the Premier League and overseas want to sign him. He’s a better player than many people give him credit, and when he comes as a sub, he always creates quality moments.

“It’s hard to understand why he’s not playing for Liverpool. Maybe he’s not particularly good at his manager. Maybe he’s not worthy of their system, but he’s a very talented player.

“If the club becomes available, the club expects to queue for him. He is the type of player who adds something to most teams in the country.”
