Oscar Piastri received a 10-second penalty for breaching safety vehicle regulations during the race.
Despite leading at Silverstone, Piastri’s chances of winning the British Grand Prix were significantly impacted as his McLaren teammate and championship contender, Randnoris, was close behind.
The Australian driver was penalized for driving too slowly while behind the safety car, and Max Verstappen allowed Piastri to pass immediately as the race was about to restart.
However, Verstappen dropped back to 10th position after exiting Stowe corner.
