Alex Marquez Shares Exciting MotoGP Comeback Strategy for Germany Following Assen Injury

Gresini Ducati has confirmed that Alex Marquez is set to compete in this weekend’s German MotoGP. On Thursday, Marquez will head to Sachsenring for medical evaluations, and the Gresini team will decide if he can participate in Friday’s FP1 session.

About a week ago, Marquez collided with Pedro Acosta and crashed during the MotoGP race in the Netherlands while navigating a straight section. The injury occurred when Marquez’s front brake lever struck Acosta’s knee at Turn 5, causing Marquez’s front wheel to lock up and resulting in a metacarpal fracture in his left hand.

Although injuries to the left hand are generally less problematic than those to the right—since the right hand controls both the throttle and brake—the series of seven consecutive left-hand turns at Sachsenring could present a significant challenge for Marquez’s recovery. This weekend, Marquez enters his second championship season, trailing Sachsenring winner Marc Marquez, who has secured victories in the last three MotoGP rounds, by 68 points. Francesco Bagnaia leads the rider standings by 58 points.

Marquez has yet to finish on the podium at Sachsenring in MotoGP, with Jorge Martin claiming third place last year after Marquez dropped from the lead within the final laps. However, Marquez did win at Sachsenring in Moto2 six years ago during his way to the championship title.

Fan Take: This update is crucial for racing fans because Alex Marquez’s ability to race at Sachsenring could impact the competitive dynamics of the championship, especially given his injury challenges. His performance while managing this setback may inspire resilience and add an exciting element to the sport, highlighting how riders adapt to physical adversity on demanding tracks.
