Angel Reese has been named a WNBA All-Star for the second time in her professional career, as announced by the Chicago Sky on Sunday. The former LSU women’s basketball standout earned this honor again in 2024 after making the team as a rookie last year. Reese notably contributed to Team WNBA’s 117-109 victory over USA Basketball’s National Team, recording a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

This season, Reese is averaging 12.4 points, leading the league with 12.6 rebounds, along with 3.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game. She has established herself as the leading rebounder for her team this year. Continuing to make history, Reese became the first player in league history to grab over 15 rebounds in four straight games, with a peak of 19 rebounds during that streak.

In the Chicago Sky’s last nine games, she is averaging 15 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game, shooting 47.1% from the field and 85.7% from the free-throw line. She also ranks tied for sixth in the league with 1.6 steals per game. After winning a national championship at LSU under coach Kim Mulkey, Reese was selected by the Sky with the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Fan Take: Angel Reese’s rise as a dominant force in the WNBA highlights the incredible talent emerging from college programs and what it means for the league’s future. Her continued success not only energizes fans but also elevates the profile of women’s basketball, helping to grow the sport’s popularity nationwide.
