Brian Braman, a former linebacker for the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles, is currently battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer. The 38-year-old has undergone several surgeries in Seattle as part of his treatment, according to a GoFundMe page created to assist with medical expenses. Braman received his diagnosis in February.

Sean Stellat, Braman’s long-time agent, expressed the gravity of the situation to KPRC 2 in Houston, highlighting Braman’s unwavering strength, resilience, and leadership throughout his career. “Brian has always been a symbol of determination and support for the underdogs,” Stellat said. “Facing cancer now, he demonstrates those qualities more than ever. If anyone can confront this battle head-on, it’s Brian, who has always valued family above all.”

As of Saturday morning, Braman’s GoFundMe had raised over $52,000, including a generous $10,000 donation from former Texans star JJ Watt, along with contributions from other ex-teammates. Braman’s NFL career spanned seven seasons from 2011 to 2017. He notably joined the Eagles during the playoffs and helped them secure a Super Bowl LII victory by blocking punts in the divisional round, which marked his final NFL appearance.

Fan Take: This news hits home for many NFL fans because it reminds us of the human side of the sport — beyond the fame and glory, players face real-life battles like anyone else. Brian Braman’s courage and community support highlight the importance of solidarity and resilience, inspiring the football world both on and off the field.
