Newcastle missed Joan Pedro, who joined Chelsea early in the summer, and is now in the market for new attackers to work in conjunction with Alexander Isaac. They now turned their attention to the familiar faces of their searches to fill this blank.
It was confirmed over the weekend that Callum Wilson had left Newcastle at the expiration of his contract. So Eddie Howe is a striker shorts entering the new season. They accept that it is difficult to sign a quality backup, but they want to sign a replacement.
That’s why I was interested in Pedro because there is a need for multi-purpose attackers. And now, Newcastle has set the view on a similar type of player.
Newcastle rekindles interest in Hugo Ekichike
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle is the newest club to race to sign Hugo Equitique in Aintrak Frankfurt. Liverpool and Chelsea have already expressed interest in the 23-year-old, but it is possible that the northeastern move is on the card now.
Strangely, Newcastle had a long-standing interest in Ekitique. But three years later, they could now get their man.
However, it’s not easy. Newcastle has already spent £55 million on Anthony Elanga, so it could be put off by Ekitique’s reported £85 million asking price. The Hau team needs important reinforcements, so it’s difficult to trade, but it’s difficult for a big sale.
It is still unclear whether Newcastle will seriously attempt to sign Ekitique, but for now, that’s exactly what it is. If Frankfurt lowers the asking price, considering the clubs in the race, if that’s unlikely to happen, then you can ask for a deal.
