Denver Broncos’ Marvin Mims on 2025: “Times Are Changing” as Team’s Ambitions Soar

The Denver Broncos are feeling a renewed sense of optimism despite generally modest expectations around the NFL. After missing the playoffs for eight consecutive years, the team is focusing on developing their young quarterback under the guidance of Sean Payton in his third season as head coach. The vibe within the Broncos’ locker room is noticeably different, with players embracing a shared hunger for success. Wide receiver Marvin Mims highlighted that many players who experienced playoff football elsewhere, such as in Buffalo, now understand what’s required to reach that level.

This offseason, the Broncos bolstered their roster by adding experienced veterans including safety Taranor Fuwhanga, linebacker Dore Greenlow, tight end Evan Engram, and special teams expert Trent Sherfield. They also infused young talent into the team through a promising rookie class, featuring cornerback Jadae Baron and running back RJ Harvey. Mims believes these changes signal a shift toward a “win now” mentality since last season’s playoff appearance was achieved despite finishing last in the league.

Last season, Denver ranked among the top 10 in both scoring offense (25.0 points per game) and scoring defense (18.3 points per game)—a benchmark they hadn’t reached since Peyton Manning’s first year in 2012. The rookie quarterback had an exceptional inaugural season, throwing 29 touchdown passes—the second-most in NFL rookie history—helping the Broncos reach the playoffs for the first time since 2015 with a 10-win season. Mims expressed confidence that this year, the team’s focus and calm approach will help them achieve even greater success as long as they continue supporting each other.

Fan Take: This news is exciting for NFL fans because it signals that the Broncos, once struggling for years, are genuinely building a competitive team with a clear vision and strong leadership. If the young quarterback continues to develop and the talented new roster members blend well, Denver could become a significant playoff contender, adding more excitement and intensity to the league.
