Leeds are looking to add Premier League experience to Daniel Fark’s team during this summer’s transfer as they aim to give themselves the best chance to avoid relegation next season.
Over the past few weeks, they have linked to several current Premier League players, including Sean Longstaff and Joe Wilk. And they have now established their sights at another star, this time Aston Villa.
Leeds attempting to sign Emiliano Buendia from Aston Villa
As reported by Graeme Bailey (via The Yorkshire Post), Leeds is interested in signing Emiliano Buendia. The 28-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, is expected to leave Aston Villa this summer, as it is not a future plan for head coach Unai Emery.
The Leeds idea does not agree to a loan agreement with Aston Villa, with the intention of including the option to purchase a contract between the two clubs. And if that is resolved, there is a high chance that everything will be confirmed.
Buendia has previously worked with Farke during each spell on Norwich, but the chance to meet again is something that allows you to complete this transaction. Leeds wants to sign a new attack midfielder as a possible upgrade for Brendan Arson, and Argentina will fit the bill.
It remains to be seen whether Leeds has managed to get the Buendia deal, but given Aston Villa’s expected stance, it would not be surprising to see him go to Elland Road in the 2025-26 season. But for now, there is work to do before it becomes a reality.
