The Wolverhampton Wanderers appear to be advancing their attempts to snap the Spanish defender at a modest fee this summer.
The wolves, who had already secured the signature of Ferlopez, are determined to strengthen their backline, and Vitor Pereira’s side continues to pursue Christopher Woo from Rennes.
In addition to the ongoing tracking of Cameroon centre-backs, old gold hopes to bolster their full-back options, and reports from Spain suggest that they can get back on track to do so.
Wolves accelerate at talks to sign Mark Publill
According to Fitches, the wolves signed “venge” with Almeria defender Mark Publill and entered the race with “accelerated contact” with the 22-year-old representative.
The proposal from the Molineux club clearly appeals to the right back and Laliga2 outfit, “we’ll be happy to sell” for just 15 million euros (£12.9 million).
AC Milan reportedly “progressed in negotiations” for the Spaniards who represented their country in the recent European Under 21 Championship, but now it appears to have advantages on the Premier League side.
Pubill’s £13 million could be a wolf bargain
If the wolves can take full command of the race to sign the Publil, they will give them a phenomenal right back to compete with his senior Matt Doherty for a departure in Pereira’s lineup.
The 22-year-old became famous for his “tactical maturity” and along with his “physicality, technique and attacking ability” from his right flank (Ficheje).
His G/A output is modest even on the right back (4 goals and 10 assists in 105 senior games), but the obvious presence of Milan and the respected club in his signature pursuit proves how high he is in the coming years.
Now, wolves are firmly established in the Premier League, and they face eight consecutive seasons of top flight football – Pabill’s reported asking price under £13 million is a relative bargain in today’s market.
If they can see seven European champions in the Spanish right-back race, it represents a very satisfying coup for the old gold.
