Benjamin Sesco appears to be set to stay in the Bundesliga after Arsenal pursues an alternative target.
The Premier League giants reportedly chose to throw their hat into the ring for Victor Gyoker, who was linked to Manchester United.
If reports coming out of Portugal are believed, the gunners are trapped in a contract with Swedish international. The record (via mirror) argues that only the nominal fees distinguish between Mikel Arteta’s arsenal and the contract with Sport Lisbon for high-scoring strikers.
Benjamin Sesco is not heading for a Premier League transfer
Once things stand, Sesco may not be moving to the Premier League this summer.
Several catch-offside sources close to negotiations have confirmed that RB Leipzig’s demands (900 million euros (£77.5 million)) are too much for Arsenal to commit.
This has since been backed up by our in-house Bundesliga expert Christian Falk in a exclusive update.
“Benjamin šeško was Mikel Arteta’s first choice option to strengthen the striker’s position.” Bild’s soccer head wrote in his Fact Files column.
“However, former Arsenal sports director Edu Gaspar was more focused on Viktor Gyökeres as the Sports Lisbon Star is a cheaper option.
“Now, Sheshko is too expensive for Arsenal and Manchester United, so unless the potential suitor is ready to pay €900 million (£77.5 million), he is going to stay in another season.
“It could still happen, but as we see with Arsenal, not all clubs are willing to pay this amount.”
That’s despite hopeful reports of Arsenal being said to be ongoing from Germany’s arrival Sesco.
How does Gyoker compare to Sesko?
As far as raw output goes, Gyoker ousted Sesko out of the park in the 2024/25 campaign.
The former registered 67 goal contributions in 52 games (over all competitions) in 27 matches in 45 games.
Player | the goal | assist | Several minutes for each target contribution |
Benjamin Sesco | twenty one | 6 | 120.6 |
Viktor | 54 | 13 | 63.4 |

To put that into context, the sports CP star was scoring or supporting almost twice as much as his Leipzig counterpart. That said, it’s a relatively less challenging league, and it needs to be emphasized.
Similarly, diving deep into paired comparative statistics should also be warned by this same reality.
Player | Non-penalty xg | More than that | Shot creation action | Contact a conflicting penalty box |
Benjamin Sesco | 0.35 | 0.07 | 1.8 | 3.51 |
Viktor | 0.69 | 0.23 | 4.94 | 9.12 |

That being said, if Arsenal completes Viktor Gyoker’s move, it is difficult to imagine the Swedes as an effective signature in the UK, even considering the possibility of a drop-off.
How does Sesco feel about missing out on Arsenal’s move?
For the loyal people at Emirates Stadium, it is potentially disappointing Arsenal forwarding news.
Perhaps one serious point of security is the fact that the London-based outfit is a viable option for him in the future.
That is not to suggest that Sesko is particularly disappointed with this outcome. After all, he rarely gets compensated with RB Leipzig after agreeing to improved terms.
“He’s probably ready to stay as well. I don’t think he’s overly disappointed with the outcome as a result. He’s already given a new contract in Leipzig on a high salary.” Fork added.
“So Benjamin šeško knows that a transfer from the club will finally arrive, so it’s fine to think of staying.
“It’s also important for the centre forward when the bid comes, that comes from the right club. Arsenal is a great option for him, but the 22-year-old is ready to wait if they’re pushing for another player.”
