Liverpool reportedly lined up major signatures (photo by Mike Hewitt/Getty Images)
Liverpool is reportedly preparing to discuss potential transfer moves for Eintrack Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitique.
The French forward was one of Europe’s most impressive young offensive players last season, finishing his campaign with a total of 22 goals and 11 assists in 47 matches in all competitions.
Ekitike is now Liverpool’s highest goal, and Frankfurt is said to have received information about Reds preparing to prepare a talk about the deal.
With Liverpool likely planning to sell Darwin Nunes this summer, it makes sense that they are considering bringing in a new sign-up ahead of time, and Ekitique looks like an ideal fit.
Hugo Ekitike Transfer will be another Liverpool statement
If the LFC can add Ekitike along with other signatures this summer so far this will be a very transfer window for the Premier League champions.
So far, Liverpool had signed Florian Wiltz, Jeremy Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, but Giorgi Mamardashvili also joined after the deal ended last summer.
Ekitike is about to build on the success of last season’s title, which will add to another world class that could potentially bring Arne Slot’s side to level.
Can other clubs participate in Ekitike’s running?
Liverpool probably isn’t alone in pursuing Ekitike. The 23-year-old has previously been mentioned as a target for Manchester United in a report by Fabrizio Romano. Catch off side.
I imagine Ekitike will prioritize Champions League football, but it will be interesting to see if Liverpool can position themselves as their favorite here.
The sports report to me also suggests that Saudi Arabia’s interest may be something to be notable, but it’s a shame to see the top talent that leaves Europe at this early stage of his career.
They also say they are confident that Eintracht will bag the star player a £86 million asking price.
