Tottenham ended a 17-year trophy drought by clinching the Europa League title on May 21 with a memorable 1-0 win over Manchester United, yet that triumphant night in Bilbao didn’t save Ange Postecoglou from being dismissed later.

During the 2024/25 season, the team finished in a disappointing 17th place, setting multiple negative records, leading to Thomas Frank’s appointment as Postecoglou’s successor last month.

Although Frank is new to north London, Spurs are already making headlines with an impressive start to the summer transfer window.

The acquisition of Mohamed Kudus from fierce rivals West Ham for a reported £55 million is just the beginning, as they are poised to add more high-profile players.

Tottenham recently made a strong statement by triggering a £60 million release clause for Morgan Gibbs White from Nottingham Forest.

While they are bringing in formidable talent, the North London club is also working to offload some key players from the first team in an effort to recover from recent financial losses.

Several well-known players are at risk of leaving Spurs as the club navigates its fiscal challenges.

Son Heung-min

Since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015, Son Heung-min has become a beloved figure in the white half of North London, valued as one of Tottenham’s modern legends.

However, despite celebrating the Europa League victory, it seems the South Korean star is set to make an emotional exit from the club.

After scoring seven Premier League goals last season, Son has struggled for consistent form and faces limited first-team opportunities with Frank at the helm.

With just a year left on his contract and no extension in sight, Kudus’ arrival signals that the Tottenham skipper may not return for the 2025/26 season.

During his decade in London, Son has made 454 appearances and netted 173 goals, marking him as one of the Premier League’s standout players of his era.

Richarlison

Richarlison’s arrival in 2022 for £60 million from Everton generated a lot of excitement, but the Brazilian has struggled to find his footing in N17.

At 28, he made only 15 Premier League appearances last season, scoring just four times, and his performances were often underwhelming.

Although he was rumored to leave London during the January transfer window, Richarlison is now reportedly committed to proving himself with the newly crowned Europa League champions.

Tottenham is actively working to find a buyer for the forward, who tallied 16 goals during his three years with the club, as interest from the Middle East continues, as well as a potential return to Everton for around £20 million.

Yves Bissouma

Yves Bissouma played a full 90 minutes during Spurs’ famous victory over Manchester United, yet he struggled for playing time during the subsequent season.

Like Son, the former Brighton player has entered the final year of his contract, with both parties showing dissatisfaction over extension talks.

At 28, Tottenham might seek to sell Bissouma this summer, as the incoming Rodrigo Bentancur could overshadow him in the midfield hierarchy.

With a price tag of £25 million, Bissouma may attract interest from clubs across Europe, including a possible reunion with former Tottenham boss José Mourinho at Fenerbahçe, while Juventus is also keeping an eye on the situation.

As soccer fans, this news is pivotal as it not only reshapes Tottenham’s roster but also signals their ambitions to reclaim their status in the Premier League. These changes could spark a significant shift in the competitive landscape, making it crucial to monitor how such moves impact team dynamics moving forward.
