The 2025 Wimbledon Men’s Single Final is set to be an all-timer. No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz will compete against world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in an epic rematch on Sunday (11am on ESPN) as he attempts to win his third straight Wimbledon title.

Now, Alkaraz and the sinner will face off again – Alkaraz wants to defend his title, and the sinner wants to be revenge.
Alkaraz and the Sinner’s Final Meeting
The French Open Finals between Alcaraz and Thinner were long-standing finals as they were one of the longest men’s final matches in the open era, where the two young champions competed in tough matches, with the five and a half hour mark.
The match included five full sets, three tiebreaks and a stunning comeback from Alcaraz. At one point, Thinner was one point away from winning the championship. Instead, he dropped three championship points and allowed Alcaraz to force a decision set.

Known for his ability to win marathon matches, Alkaraz controlled the fifth set, so Thinner began his own comeback and sent the match to another tiebreaker. But in the end it was Alcaraz who brought the trophy home.
“I’m sure you’ll be a champion, but I’ve never been more than once,” Alcaraz said of the sinner in a post-match speech. “It’s a privilege to share the courts with you in every tournament and make history with you.”
Now, the two are aiming to make history again on the grass.
How Alkaraz and the Sinner Come Here
Like many of his tournaments, Alcaraz cruised his game a lot, reaching the Wimbledon final for the third year in a row. After enduring a nervous five-set match against Fabio Fognini in the first round, Alcaraz took some easy wins to finally reach the semi-finals. There, he defeated Top American Taylor Fritz in four sets and finished off the job with a thrilling tiebreak.

As for the sinners, the Italians have dealt with a series of injuries in this tournament. Both his opponent and himself. In the 16th round, the sinner appeared to be poised to be upset by Grigor Dimitrov. Grigor Dimitrov defeated the sinner in the first two sets before his torn chest was forced to retire. Then, in the semi-finals, the sinner easily defeated Novak Djokovic in a straight set. It was a dominant victory, but Djokovic was also affected by injuries picked up in the quarterfinals after a nasty fall.
Record of rates from the head of Alcaraz and Sinner
Thinner has held the No. 1 ATP ranking since June last year, but Alcaraz has the advantage when it comes to playing Italian.
The two have played each other 12 times back to 2021. Alcaraz won eight of these matchups and has won the sinners in the last five meetings. The sinner has not defeated Alkaraz since 2023.

Importantly, Alkaraz is also a much stronger player on grass than sinners who tend to thrive on the hard court. This is the first time Sinner has reached the Wimbledon Final, while Alcaraz has won the last two. Given that sinners are also dealing with potential injuries, it will be a tough fight for the Italians to come to the top on Sunday.
