Liverpool hopes to sign a new striker this summer, and Darwin Nunes expects to end his stay at Anfield. They link to many well-known players, such as Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, but they may be trying to sign players who went under the radar in recent seasons.

Isak is the target of Liverpool’s dream, but it will be difficult to sign a deal this summer as Newcastle is not expected to consider offers below £150 million. They also managed to miss Ekitique, who could join Isaac at St. James Park.

The other targets were created by Liverpool sports director Richard Hughes, and the list includes another Premier League Marksman.

According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool is interested in Jean-Philippe Mateta and contact with his representative has already been made. The 28-year-old, who has 36 goals in his final two seasons with Crystal Palace, is considered an alternative target for Isaac and Ekitique.

However, it can be equally difficult for Liverpool to sign Mateta compared to other striker targets. Crystal Palace is expected to lose Ebebeki Eze and Mark Guech this summer. Even if they both leave, there is no reason to consider the Star Striker offer.

Mateta, who has also attracted interest from Man United in recent months, is not the most fascinating name, but his goal record for the last few seasons is undisputable. If they can get the deal done, he will certainly be a very effective signature for Liverpool.

But if that’s the case, it’s not surprising to see another striker looking for it. The tragic passage of Diogo Jota means Liverpool is short in the area, so there is a chance that two Number 9 will sign.
