Emma Navarro’s Wimbledon journey ended in round 16 on Monday after losing to Mira Andreva in two sets, 6-2, 6-3. American Navarro took part in the match as the 10th seeded female side, and her Russian counterpart was seeded in 7th place.

Andreeva built the early lead she held on both sets as Navarro couldn’t cut the deficit before it became a sweeping.

After the points that won the match, Andreva didn’t realize she had won, leaving a viral moment for fans to appreciate her focus. As Andreva lined up to start his next game, Navarro walked towards the net to shake hands. Looking up, the teenager realized the match was over and jogged towards his competitors.

18-year-old Andreva is making his first appearance in the Wimbledon quarterfinals in his third year since entering the tournament. After her victory, the teenager raved about playing in front of tennis legend Roger Federer, who was attending the Royal Box.

“Before I played for the first time on centre court, I was very nervous,” Andreva said. “I really did my best not to look inside the box, because I knew that as soon as I saw it, I would lose focus completely.

“When I saw (Federer), I was really, really nervous, but I’m so happy I was able to keep my focus.”

Navarro lost in the 16th round after winning over Petra Kvitova, Veronica Kudermetova and Barbora Klehikova.

Andreva will face Swiss Belinda Bensik on Wednesday in the quarter-finals. This is the first time that Bencic, ranked 34th in the world in Women’s Singles, has made it past 16 rounds at Wimbledon.
