The need for new attackers at Manchester United this summer is very clear considering they failed within the last third throughout the 2024/25 campaign.
Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes finished the season as the club’s co-top goalscorers in the Premier League.
Main strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirksy emphasized the lack of goalscoring threat on Reuben Amorim’s part.
Matheus Cunha has already been brought to Old Trafford this summer, but the Brazilian will need additional talent along with him to help the club launch the Premier League table in 2025/26.
Many talents are already being promoted in a potential move to join the Red Devils, including multiple stars that can improve the current situation at Dream Theatre.
The latest on United Hunt for new additions from United this summer
Bryan Mbeumo was the player most associated with the move to join United this summer, but despite years of interest, the 25-year-old contract has yet to be agreed.
Amorim’s side has submitted two separate bids to Cameroon International, but neither of them meets the £605 million ask price. Currently, trading is not moving in the right direction.
However, according to Givemesport, another name has been in the mix for the past few days, as Aston Villa Talisman’s Ollie Watkins is an important option for Amorim.
They claim that the 29-year-old is accepting a switch to Old Trafford this summer, but the club must agree to the numbers for his services, with Unai Emery’s side demanding the window at £60 million.
Amorim also considers England International to be an excellent option to lead the frontline next season, and it’s no surprise given the 17 goal tally in all competitions in 2024/25.
Why United’s £60 million goal becomes Mbeumo’s dream CF
As mentioned earlier, Mbeumo is a player with great admiration for the Old Trafford hierarchy and must desperately agree to the services of this window.
Given the length of the negotiations, missing his signature would be a disaster.
His tally of 20 league goals last season is more than twice as high as anyone on the team’s current team, passing the clinical edge he wants to the side during the offseason.
The 25-year-old also has the tools to provide other players in the offensive area, registering 1.8 chances per 90 and providing opportunities to succeed, along with 1.4 successful crosses.
Such a person would certainly help if he moved to Old Trafford in this window as well.
Labeled “amazing” by Statman Dave, Watkins registered 16 league goals and certainly benefited from the chances created by Mbeumo behind him.
His tally of 1.4 shots on target at a 44% accuracy rate highlights the threat he poses before the goal, allowing him to change the club’s fate in the attacking area through 2025/26.

However, he also shows he can return favors to other attackers, creating 1.6 chances per 90, allowing Mbeumo to build in this 20-goal season with the bees.
The outlook for the pair linking together on United certainly should excite the fanbase and be excited about a major upgrade to the talent that managers currently have at their disposal.
The deal for both players will likely cost a small amount, but if they can burn the sides towards their previous glory next season, it will be a number worth every penny.
