The 153rd Open Championship began at Royal Portrush Golf Course in Northern Ireland. Xander Schauffele appears to defend the 2024 championship, but he is undoubtedly competing with Scottie Scheffler (PGA Championship), Rory McIlroy (The Masters) and JJ Spaun (US Open). They will also all have to fight the weather as heavy rain is expected late Thursday.
