Tim Ziu Shares Insights on Sebastian Fandra Belt with a ‘Health First’ Perspective

Tim Tszyu has been discharged from the hospital, but his boxing career remains uncertain after suffering his second harsh defeat in the United States. American fighter Sebastian Fundora, known as “Towhing Inferno,” defeated Tszyu by submission in a Las Vegas rematch for the world title. Tszyu, the former Australian WBO Super Welterweight Champion, was rushed to the hospital after he could not continue fighting following a punishing seventh round at the MGM Grand’s iconic arena.

Interestingly, Tszyu seemed to be gaining momentum in the seventh round after a powerful left hook from Fundora early on. Despite Fundora himself showing signs of damage with bloodied cuts, he landed a strong uppercut that stunned Tszyu, who then chose not to continue. Tszyu is part of only the third father-son duo in boxing history, striving to follow in the footsteps of his Hall of Fame father, Kostya Tszyu, both aiming for multiple world titles.

Promoter George Rose expressed sympathy for Tszyu, saying it was heartbreaking to see how hard he worked and how much he wanted to win. Rose also praised Fundora, calling his performance a masterclass in defending his WBC title and the best fight he’s seen from Fundora. He believes Fundora’s use of reach and length made this a significant win, and he doubts anyone in the division will beat him.

Standing tall at 197 cm with a reach advantage, Fundora kept Tszyu at a distance, preventing him from getting close without exposure. However, Rose insists Tszyu has the potential to make a comeback if he chooses. He emphasized the importance of recovery and accepting defeat as part of the process. According to Rose, Tszyu still has the talent to dominate most fighters on his best nights, but it’s ultimately his choice whether to return to training or take a break.

With three losses in his last four fights after an undefeated streak in his first 24, it’s too soon to predict Tszyu’s future in boxing. Rose acknowledges that dealing with losses in this sport takes time and involves medical recovery and personal reflection. He remains confident in Tszyu’s hunger and dedication, noting that Tszyu recently fought for the world title at a top venue, the MGM Grand. Rose commits to supporting Tszyu if he decides to pursue another run at the world championship.

Fan Take: This news is crucial for fight fans because it highlights the brutal realities of boxing, where even the most talented can face humbling defeats. Tszyu’s potential comeback could inspire a thrilling new chapter in the super welterweight division, reminding fans why resilience and heart are essential in the sport.
