The motorcycle racing world is grieving the tragic loss of teenage prodigy Poalsina, who died following a training accident at Motorland Aragon. The 17-year-old was preparing for the upcoming round of the FIM Junior GP series on Saturday when he crashed violently and was thrown off his bike.

According to reports from Spain, Poalsina was immediately taken to a hospital in Zaragoza, where he underwent emergency surgery. Despite the medical team’s efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on Monday.

His passing was confirmed via a social media statement from Salvador Ira Roca, president of the Catalan government, who expressed his condolences and described Poalsina as a promising young talent. Arrangements have been made to return his body to his home region in Catalonia.

Poalsina was regarded as one of Spain’s brightest young racers, having graduated from the Junior GP Series in 2025 with the Estrella Galicia team. He ranked 13th in the rider standings after the first four rounds, including a strong showing in the Geres doubleheader.

Having previously competed with the Artbox team in the European Talent Cup, Poalsina stepped up to the FIM-certified series with high ambitions to reach MotoGP’s Premier Class within five years. From a young age, he admired MotoGP legends such as six-time champion Marc Márquez and fellow Catalan riders Pol and Aleix Espargaró.

Fan Take: This heartbreaking news is a stark reminder of the inherent dangers in motorcycle racing, but also highlights the incredible potential lost with Poalsina’s untimely death. For racing fans, it underscores the importance of continued advancements in safety alongside nurturing young talent who are the future of the sport.
