Titans QB Showcases Strength in Levi’s Before Season-Ending Shoulder Surgery

Turron Davenport, an experienced ESPN reporter who has covered the Tennessee Titans since 2018 and hosts “Talking with TD” on ESPN Radio, reports that Titans quarterback Will Levis will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder, the team confirmed on Monday.

Levis sustained an AC joint injury while striving for a first down against the Miami Dolphins on September 30th and is scheduled for surgery on July 29th. The team expressed support for his decision, praising his professionalism during the offseason and confidence in his full recovery.

Levis initially hoped rest and rehab would heal his shoulder, but after experiencing discomfort during minicamp and seeking further medical advice, he decided on surgery. The Titans’ 2025 first overall draft pick Cameron Ward will take over as the starting quarterback at training camp, likely supported by veteran free agent Brandon Allen.

Levis had a tough previous season, returning late after injury but posting a disappointing 2-10 record with 2,091 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Despite some offseason training focused on footwork and technique with personal coach Jordan Palmer, Levis’ shoulder issues persisted during OTAs, signaling challenges ahead for his return.

In addition to Levis’ setback, the Titans face injury concerns with starters cornerback L’Jarius Sneed recovering from a quad injury and center Lloyd Cushenberry III recuperating from an Achilles tear. Meanwhile, 2022 first-round pick Tray Burks, recovering from an ACL tear, has only been participating in limited practices and remains a question mark for the season.

Fan Take: This news is significant for NFL fans as it reshapes the Titans’ quarterback landscape and puts a spotlight on rookie Cameron Ward’s potential impact. Levis’ injury struggles and the team’s injury challenges highlight the unpredictable nature of football and the resilience required to compete at the highest level.
