Aston Villa reportedly made an offer to sign a Brazilian midfielder, who has gained support from one of the most famous strikers in world football.
So far, it has been a rather calm moving window for Unai Emery’s part, with the only newcomers being Yasin Ozcan, Marco Bizot, Modou Keba Cisse and Zepiqueno Redmond (the latter arrived on free movement).
The Midlands Club had to take dramatic steps this summer to controversially sell a team of women’s teams a few weeks ago to ensure compliance with PSR regulations, but there was greater room to strengthen the team by the deadline in late August (and therefore links with others like Mika Biereth and Alejandro Garnacho).
Aston Villa submits Gabriel Sarah’s offer
According to Turkish outlet Fotospor, Aston Villa has submitted an offer to Gabriel Sara, the midfielder of Galatasaray, who is also pursued by Leeds.
Emery’s side is “testing the 26-year-old Waters,” but the Istanbul outfit continues to insist that he’s not for sale, but that stance may change when “incredible” suggestions come down their path.
Sarah will give Aston Villa a wonderful and versatile option
Sarah’s name has been familiar to British football fans since his days at Norwich, scoring 21 goals over two seasons before joining Galatasaray last year.
The Brazilian won passionate praise from his teammate Victor Osimhen for winning the prolific Nigerian in the derby clash with Besiktas in October.
According to FBREF, he was highly ranked among the positioning peers in the many basic performance metrics in the European main league and in the Champions League on 2024/25.
While Aston Villa is well stocked in the middle right now, Sarah offers Emery a wonderfully versatile option to play 6, 8 or 10, and is widely deployed as a fullback (TransferMarkt) if necessary.
It is unclear exactly how big the villain will be to turn Galatasaray’s head, but the Brazilian midfielder’s pursuit is for monitoring the coming days and weeks.
