Bid to win the Charlie Woods tournament, his father Tiger won three times in Texas this week.
Woods, 16, held the US Junior Amateur Championship in a round of 11 over 81 at Brook Hollow Golf Club on Monday, and rebounded in 3 over 74 at Trinity Forest Golf Club on Tuesday.
The top 64 players played match plays starting Wednesday. Woods was one of the 200 players who returned home early.
Woods was also qualified as a US junior amateur in 2024, but he shot the 82-80 round and didn’t reach play in the match. He won his first significant American Junior Golf Association title in May.
Tiger was seen following him during Monday’s play. Woods won the US Junior Amateur for the third consecutive time between 1991 and 93.
Mason Howell earned medalist honors at this year’s event, with a two-day score of 134 under 7.
Other notables reaching matchplay were Treber Gushewysky, the defending champion of Miles Russell, 16-year-old Miles Russell, who played in three PGA Tour events over the past two seasons, and Cameron Kucha, the son of longtime PGA Tour player Matt Kucha.
