Shohei Ohtani appeared in his fifth straight game on Wednesday, setting a new record for the Los Angeles franchise. Previously, Yankees’ Aaron Judge was the last player to hit home runs in five consecutive games, achieving this milestone last year.

Ohtani, who leads the National League with 37 home runs, smashed a 441-foot home run off Minnesota Twins pitcher Chris Paddack in the first inning, sending a slow curveball into center field. After making contact, he casually carried the bat down the first baseline and finished with a bat flip.

This marks only the seventh time in history that a player has hit home runs in five consecutive games. Ohtani joins an exclusive list including Max Muncy, Joc Pederson, Adrian Gonzalez, Matt Kemp, Sean Green, and Roy Campanella.

As a three-inning MVP, Ohtani bats .276 with 70 RBIs and has also impressed on the mound in six games. He is building momentum as a starter and is set to pitch four innings soon, returning from a second right UCL repair surgery.

Ohtani will have the chance to extend his home run streak to six games in an upcoming match against the Boston Red Sox on the team’s off day Thursday.

Fan Take: Shohei Ohtani’s ability to excel both as a hitter and pitcher makes him one of the most exciting and versatile players in baseball today. This record-breaking streak highlights his impact, captivating fans and potentially reshaping how players are valued in the sport.
